Candy
Will, also know as "Butterscotch the Clown", got her start in clowning
in 1993 when she attended a 4H Regional convention and met a 4H Clown
leader by the clown name of Giovanni from Florida. She was very
interested in seeing his class and it seemed like fun. She took back
what she had learned to the 4H club she was the club leader of and
started a 4H clown troupe. After becoming a single parent with 4
children and not having worked for 14 years, Butterscotch came into
existence for Candy. Not long after, with the urging of clown friends,
Butterscotch attended her first clown convention in 1997, the Western
Regional Clown Convention, where she has attended and participated since
then. Butterscotch enjoyed being at the convention so much that she
wanted to attend more conventions across the US. The more conventions
she attended, the more she learned to improve her clown with the help of
other wonderful clown friends she met along the way. Her attendance at
clown conventions she's been to are the COAI conventions, the New
Hampshire North East Convention and the Albany North East Convention,
the Clown Jam in Branson, Missouri, the Kentucky Clown Derby in
Louisville, Kentucky, the Circus Magic convention in Virginia and
Clownfest in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. Butterscotch has won several
awards for make up, balloons, skits, parade-ability and face painting.
Organizations Butterscotch belongs to are the Volunteer Clowns of Orange
County, Funny Business, San Diego All Star Clowns, The North County
Clown Conspiracy, Western Region Clown Association, Clowns of America
International and World Clown Association. She is also the Junior Joey
Chairperson for Clowns of America International.
Butterscotch enjoys doing both professional and volunteer clown work. As
a professional clown Butterscotch has done numerous birthday parties and
many events for the City of San Juan Capistrano and the San Juan
Capistrano Chamber of Commerce. She has been a 4H Clown leader since
1993 and she and her 4H clown troupe participate in the Swallows Day
Parade in San Juan Capistrano, California every year since 1995.
Butterscotch and her daughter Beary the Clown also participate in the
City of Laguna Niguel Holiday Parade every year.
Working with the Volunteer Clowns of Orange County has many rewards for
Butterscotch, including doing work with the "Make A Wish" foundation.
Butterscotch has expanded her clowning abilities by teaching to the
clowns at Volunteer Clowns of Orange County, teaching at the Clownology
classes for the San Diego All Star Clowns, and also sharing ideas and
teaching at the Funny Business Clown Club. She has organized several
face painting jams at some of the conventions she has attended.
Butterscotch has also been an instructor for face painting at the
Western Region Clown Convention in Laughlin, Nevada. And at the Clown
Jam in Branson, Missouri and also judged at the Clown Jam in Branson.
Butterscotch loves clowning and enjoys the ability to make people of all
ages smile and laugh!
