Summer
of 1991, there came a surprise. I had been flying hot air balloons and scuba
diving for years and needed something different. So, after searching the yellow
pages, I came across a section on clowns in the Richmond, Virginia area. I
called Virginia Alley 3 and was told of a clown class starting that summer. I
enrolled and have been hooked since. Bonkers the Clown was born. After 14 years
of clowning, I can now officially state that my life has drastically changed for
the better! Over the last 14 years, I have entertained all over the state of
Virginia and beyond! Life has been great and enjoyable. From the many charities
to the birthday parties, Bonkers has been out there spreading good cheer to all.
And now since being elected the Sergeant at Arms, I continue to meet so many
wonderful people/clowns in my travels. I am a frequent participant in many
workshops/conventions throughout the USA. Often, I carry COAI merchandise to and
fro from these events where I sell the merchandise and meet so many nice people.
So if you should see me at one of these events or out and around, please come by
and introduce yourself. This clowning experience is a lifetime event for me.
Just remember - "You don't stop laughing because you grow old, you grow old
because you stopped laughing"! Sorry, but I do not know who to give credit to
for this quote but it is one I try to live by.
