What
drove me to Clowning you ask .. Stress of course. A co-worker ask me if I needed
a stress relief from my demanding executive position for a large mortgage
company. She had the solution. Clown school put on by St Louis Clowns of
American #128. I was hooked. I know I have been a clown all my life. The school
cut up, the kid who made everyone laugh in class, that was me. I could not
believe how much fun this was to put on a silly face and act the part of a fool.
My history has been to attend conventions and schools for the art of clowning.
Performing with my alley, has been great experience. I currently hold the office
of President for the second 2 yr. term. I love working with the kids. Its not
alway easy for me. Kids tend to tug at my heart until it almost hurts. When my
father was dying of Cancer, I went to Camp Rainbow for cancer kids. I saw a
little girl that had no hair, and my emotions got the best of me and I began to
think of my father and cry. I walked off t o the other room to compose myself.
and I felt a little hand tug on my shirt and it was the little girl. She looked
up at me with big wide eyes and said, "Its ok Bubbles, I’m going to be fine, you
don’t need to cry" she gave me hug and I hugged her back. She had a big smile on
her face and said thanks for coming to her camp and showing them how to be
clowns. The little girl was not there the next year, I spoke to one of the camp
staff and they said she had passed away. That’s what being a clown is about.
Bringing a smile to someones face. Its about giving of yourself. I’m a clown and
proud of it.
